Team Acer wins Fnatic LoL cup

Fnatic RaidCall LoL Tournament

After getting through the qualifying rounds of Fnatic RaidCall’s LoL Tournament #2, Team Acer LoL.pl earned the right to play against the teams who were invited to the tournament: exHCL, Fnatic.RC, SK Gaming, Na’Vi, Millenium, TCM Gaming, n!faculty and Death Fire Grasp. The teams to qualify from the qualifying matches from the previous day are: Team Acer.pl, My Brownies.LoL, Kaotx, Exordium, coached by Ionson, Team Thermaltake, Team Bacon Lovers Are Crazy Kool (BLACK) and FeW Gamers.

In yesterday’s matches our Polish LoL team was matched up against and beat Millenium, Na’Vi and exHCL making a name for themselves as the underdogs of their tournament bracket as stated by qu1cksh0t and Czone on the live stream. The game against exHCL exceeded 60 minutes and was a very close game, but Team Acer was able to pull out a win in the end.

In the first game against Fnatic.RC, Team Acer was able to draw first blood from Shushei’s Darius, giving Team Acer an early lead on Fnatic.RC. However, as the game went on, Darius begins to roam around the map netting kills and assists on Team Acer’s middle and bottom lanes. With the extra gold and kill advantage, Fnatic.RC was able to pull out a win over Team Acer.

The second game started out differently with Fnatic.RC getting first blood and starting the game 2 kills to 1 in favour of Fnatic.RC. As Team Acer begins to do dragon, Fnatic.RC initiates a fight, but Team Acer are able to turn the fight around and win the team fight. After the team fight, Team Acer gets an easy Baron Nashor, but they are too weak from the team fight to push into Fnatic.RC’s base. Later Team Acer is in a 5 vs. 4 position against Fnatic.RC and they manage to destroy an inhibitor and they retreat. As Baron Nashor re-spawns, Team Acer hides in a bush and manage to catch Fnatic.RC off guard. With the number advantage Team Acer pushes to win in game two.

The third game began with both teams being on equal ground for a very long time. Eventually Fnatic.RC goes to do Baron with everyone except Galio (xPeke). Team Acer goes to kill Galio with all five people, meanwhile Fnatic.RC trades Galio for Baron Nashor. On the next Baron Nashor spawn, Team Acer manages to ace Fnatic.RC and take Baron Nashor for themselves. Again, on the next Baron Nashor spawn, Team Acer aces Fnatic.RC another time. On the second ace, Team Acer pushes into Fnatic.RC’s base and grabs an inhibitor. After healing and a bit more farming from both teams, Team Acer wins a teamfight outside of Fnatic.RC’s base and pushes to win; earning them the victory of the tournament.

With the victory, Team Acer.pl cements their first win at a notable tournament and helps to expand the Team Acer name and make a name for themselves at the same time. DOTA PRO was also awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) for the tournament.

'The final game vs. FnaticRC was tough for us because we were really exhausted after a whole day of playing, so we made some mistakes. After all, we managed to win our first tournament under the Team Acer name and we hope it's not our last!

In my opinion Darius is a weird champion for top lane, he has really big damage and burst - probably the largest from all the bruisers - but on the other hand, he lacks any defensive skills. He is hard countered by chain CC (crowd control), like stuns, fears, and silences, but if he manages to get farm he is a great snowballer. He is very easy to gank with, but also very easy to get ganked, so he is a high risk, high reward champion.

I don't think he is overpowered, it's just that any snowball skill in solo queue, like his ultimate (Noxian Guillotine), is very effective. For example, Akali's ultimate (Shadow Dance) or Katarina's passive (Voracity) look very overpowered too, but in fact, in organized 5 v 5 play, where there is more communication, chain CC, and good focus shuts down those champions. This is the same with Darius.'
