Bly: I am playing fulltime
Team Acer's editorial crew sat down with our very own Aleksandr 'Acer | Bly' Svusuyk to talk about his recent addition to the Team Acer family and more. The Ukrainian Zerg player has proven in recent months to be a force to be reckoned with in the very competitive European StarCraft II scene. Other than talking about just electronic sports, the interview covers subjects such as school, goals for the future and future events. ![]() Hey Aleksandr, it is now official that you are the latest addition to the Team Acer family. How did this come about happening? How do you like the team so far? Aleksandr 'Acer | Bly' Svusuyk: I was searching for a team after mTL disbanded. In the meantime I was invited to ASUS ROG so if I wouldn't find team (and I am done with teams like mTL and Virus that screw playesr over for money), I would have to go with my own money. At that moment I already had offers from European teams but I didn't get any offers that would really want to make me join 100%. A few days later, Team Acer offered me a really nice position in the team with good terms and I said "yes" almost without thinking. Team Acer is a really great project and I hope we will be together for a long time to come. This isn't your first RTS game as you have previously played WarCraft III competitively. What made you decided to switch from WarCraft III to StarCraft II? Acer | Bly: I decided to switch because of the popularity of StarCraft II. In WarCraft III, each day I played I was earning less and less money. At the end of the day I want to make a living off of electronic sports, so I made the decision to play StarCraft II (and as we can all see now, I made the right decision). You will be competing in the Asus ROG tournament at Assembly LAN on February 25th against some of the top StarCraft II players in the world. How do you feel before this tournament and what are your expectations? Acer | Bly: At the moment I feel that I'm in really good shape and that I have the possibility to break into the top earning places in tournaments. I will do my best to earn a top three finish at the ASUS ROG Tournament at the Assembly LAN. We'll see however because it's StarCraft II and anything can happen. Do you plan on competing in any more LANs in the future after this event? Where might we see you next? Acer | Bly: I will try to participate in all of the big LANs in Europe. I have heard that Gamers Assembly will be in March so I think I will try and earn a spot there. You are currently studying, is this correct? Could you shed some light into what you are studying? What would you like to do after your studies? Acer | Bly: No, I don't study anymore. I finished the 5th stage of my university this past summer. I did study auditing and accounting before however. I am currently pursuing professional gaming full time! Who are your least and most favorite players to play against and why? In your opinion, which match-up is your best, and which is your worst? Acer | Bly: There are a lot of good players in Europe at the moment so I can't answer that question really well. There are too many players. On the topic of match-ups: ZvP is my best match-up I think while ZvZ is my worst. ![]() How will you prepare for the Asus LAN coming up? Do you have any secrets to share with players trying to break into the competitive scene? Acer | Bly: I think the best way to practice is to play custom games, or play as many tournaments as possible (this is what I do). Every tournament you play you try to play as effectively as possible to win the prize so you use all of your potential to win those games. This is really good practice. What is your best memory from gaming? Acer | Bly: WCG 2009 in Chengdu, China (for WarCraft III) was the best week of my life. We stayed in a 5 star hotel and we were very popular with the fans so I got to sign many autographs for an hour every day. All of this felt very good. Well, thanks a lot for agreeing to do this interview with me. Is there anyone else you'd like to thank before we wrap-up? Acer | Bly: Thanks to all of my fans who are cheering for me when I win and of course thanks to my new IMBA team, Team Acer, and all of the Team Acer partners.
