World eSports Masters 2012

The World e-Sports Masters (WEM) for 2012 will be held from October 23rd through to the 28th, in Hangzhou, China.  The event is one of Asia's longest running esports competitions, dating back to 2005, when he began as the World eSports Games (WEG) and was based, initially, in South Korea.  After three successful seasons there it moved to Hangzhou to be relabelled the World eSports Games Masters.  The next move was to drop the second to last word.

Past events have been famous for their excellent treatment of players and the spectacle of the show put on.  This year looks to continue that tradition as all attending players will receive prize money, there are welcoming and parting banquets held and the event is spaced over many days, rather than taking the weekend style format of many Western events.  WEM also picks up players from the airport, provides practice facilities throughout their trip and helps players with accomodation.

The event, ever since moving to China, has traditionally been a co-operation between the government of Hangzhou and the tournament's organisers, and this year is no different.

Below you will find all the relevant facts and figures behind this year's event that are at our disposal.
