Gamescom 2012

Team Acer will be represented in force at Gamescom this year, with our booth and some of our players and teams competing in the various esports tournaments to be held.  The trade fair is held from August 15th-19th in Cologne, Germany.  Gamescom is not only one of the highlights of the German esports calender, but also now a regular fixture in the esports calender, hosting the IEM tournament, Deutschland's Bester Gamer and now the WCG's European Encounter event.

In this post you'll find out all the information you need to know about Team Acer's participation in 2012's Gamescom.

Team Acer's booth

Our booth, which you can get a sense of via the above rendering, will be located in Hall 10.1 and be booth B50.

Some of the activities you can expect to see at the Team Acer booth at Gamescom:

* 'Play the Pro' competitons, featuring the likes of:

• FIFA: deto, kr0ne, poldi10 and Acey
• SC2: Bly and Nerchio
• LoL.EU: Schabs and Reevan
• LoL.PL: guys around LOL PRO

* Special guests such as Moscow Five's Alex_Ich and many others.

* Roccat's product managers on site to present their newest gaming mouse.

* Raffles featuring prizes from Roccat and our other partners.

* The newest Team Acer racing simulators.

* The chance to test out the newest Acer products, such as tablets, Predator PC systems and many more, all in our free gaming area.

Team Acer in Gamescom's esports tournament

Team Acer will be represented by a number of our players and teams in the many esports tournaments being hosted at this year's Gamescom.

League of Legends

Gamescom will play host to Riot's Season 2 Regional Final Cologne, as eight of Europe's best teams compete for a spot at the world Championship in Los Angeles in October.  There's also the, not so small, matterof the 150,000 USD prize for this Regional Finals.  Amongst the teams who will be attending are Team Acer LoL.pl, who will be battling for points and prize money.  They will face SK Gaming in the first round.

StarCraft 2

Our StarCraft 2 players will have a whole host of events to test themselves in:

* Acer | Nerchio will be battling some of the world's best in the IEM VII competition and facing Europe's top players in the WCG European Encounter.  First prize at IEM can expect to take home 6,500 USD.

* Acer | Bly will also be a part of the WCG European Encounter, is set for ESET Masters and could perhaps yet be a part of the IEM field.  For the ESET Masters Bly is in the semi-finals, where he will face crane on the 18th.  Should he progress further he will face the winner of Welmu and Daisy in the final, with 1,000 USD on the line for the champion.  His IEM hopes rest on Wednesday's Open bracket to qualify for the group stage of the main tournament.  There will be four 8 man brackets and after the double-elimination, bo1 format has played out the final two players remaining in each bracket will move on to the main tournament.

FIFA

* Acer | deto, Acer | Acey, Acer | Raschek88 and Acer | poldi10 will all be competing in the German national WCG qualifier.  The winner will not receive a spot at the WCG Grand Finals later this year but also invitation in the WCG European Encounter, set for the 17th-19th, at Gamescom.

* deto and poldi10 will also be taking part in the Deutschland's Bester Gamer tournament, held by magazine Computer Bild Spiele, where they will compete in FIFA, Need for Speed and Halo.  Based on results across the three games the winner of the tournament will be taking home a brand new VW car.

Last, but definitely not least, there is the coverage the Team Acer website will deliver.  We will have full online coverage, following our players throughout the myriad tournaments they are set to compete in, and we will also have feet on the ground, bringing you photograph galleries and video interviews featuring top players.
